Volkswagen Tukan Officially Launched in Brazil, Arriving as a New Compact Pickup

JAKARTA – Volkswagen introduced the Tukan, a new compact pickup truck designed, developed, and produced in Brazil for the South American market. Replacing the Saveiro, the Volkswagen Tukan comes in single and double cabin configurations and offers a mild-hybrid engine option.

The pickup with a unibody construction was developed to compete mainly with the Fiat Strada. Volkswagen will start delivering the Tukan to its dealer network in the South American market in the first half of 2027.

In terms of design, the Tukan adopts the design language used by Volkswagen on its latest SUV lineup, but gets a number of adjustments for the needs of a pickup. The LED headlights take the form inspired by the Tiguan to give a more assertive front view.
