Venda Confirm New Coach After Larsen Exit

Kaitano Tembo has replaced Clinton Larsen as coach at Venda FC.

Venda FC have confirmed the appointment of a new head coach in Kaitano Tembo, hoping that his arrival will inspire a turnround after a disappointing spell with Clinton Larsen.

Larsen was in charge of 35 league matches since he took over before the start of last season, and the Limpopo outfit only managed to win nine times during that period. They drew 10 and lost 16 times before they decided to part ways.

Since the start of the current campaign, Venda has been struggling, sitting bottom of the standings after five matches. They have a record of a draw and four consecutive defeats in their first five matches of the campaign, and the club made the call to make a coaching change.

The international break will give Tembo an opportunity to work on his players for two weeks before the Motsepe Foundation Championship returns on October 10, when they take on Midlands Wanderers at Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale in KZN.

One of the areas of concern for Venda is the final third. In 30 matches last season, the club scored 24 goals. They have only found the back of the net three times in their first matches this season, so Tembo has to use this period to work on the team’s finishing.

Venda finished ninth last season under Larsen and are looking to launch a more tangible challenge for promotion this season. It’s probably why they have wasted little time to make a coaching change.
