Vancouver Whitecaps sign Guinean forward Diaby, Angolan defender Modesto

VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Whitecaps have signed a pair of players, adding Guinean striker Yadaly Diaby and Angolan defender Rui Modesto to their lineup.

Diaby, 26, comes to the ‘Caps via a transfer from Ligue 2 side Grenoble Foot 38 in France where he had three goals and one assist over 21 total appearances.

The six-foot-one, 170-pound forward has also played 11 games for Guinea’s men’s squad, scoring once.

Diaby has agreed to a contract through the 2029-30 Major League Soccer season, with a club option the 2030-31 campaign.
