USMNT to open 2030 World Cup qualifying at TQL Stadium in November

CINCINNATI —

The road to the 2030 FIFA World Cup for the United States men will kickoff later this year in Cincinnati.

Announced by the U.S. Soccer Federation on Tuesday, the United States Men’s National Team will play at TQL Stadium on Tuesday, Nov. 17, in the second leg of the quarterfinal round of the CONCACAF Nations League.

The opponent will be determined at a later date.

November’s visit will mark the sixth trip to the Queen City for the USMNT, and the first since Sept. 10, 2024, when the U.S. and New Zealand played to a 1-1 draw.

The USMNT have a 2W-1L-2D record in Cincinnati all-time.

“For our first official match of the new cycle, we couldn’t ask for a better host than Cincinnati. The Nations League is an important competition and a great opportunity to begin challenging the group in these types of matches,” USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino said. “The fans in Cincinnati have always shown amazing support for the National Team when we needed them the most, and we look forward to the energy they will bring which is so important to our players.”

Cincinnati holds a unique place in Pochettino’s tenure as the USMNT head coach: His appointment to the squad was announced on the TQL Stadium video board prior to the 2024 match against the Kiwis.

The CONCACAF Nations League will begin during the September-October international window, with the first matches being held on Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Four teams—the U.S., Mexico, Canada and Panama—received direct entry into the quarterfinals.

Prior to their Nations League run kicking off, the USMNT will take part in four international friendlies from Sept. 26 through Oct. 6. The U.S. will take on Peru 9/26, Orlando), Chile (9/29, St. Louis), Mexico (10/3, Glendale) and Canada (10/6, St. Paul).

Tickets will go on sale to the general public starting on Friday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. FC Cincinnati Season Ticket holders, Orange and Blue Reserve members and other fan groups will have access to an exclusive presale window, beginning Thursday, Sept. 17.
