US military completes new Iran strikes, fires on ship accused of violating blockade
WASHINGTON (TNND) — The U.S. military ramped up air strikes on Iran on Thursday, hitting targets further north in the country. Tehran retaliated with missile and drone fire on Bahrain and Kuwait.
Central Command said the latest wave of strikes was completed at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday. They also conducted strikes earlier at 3 p.m. ET and 6 a.m. ET.
U.S. strikes killed more than 35 people and wounded over 300 others. The morning strikes targeted Greater Tunb Island, a strategic location in the Strait of Hormuz that Iran controlled since 1971.
“The U.S. military is holding Iran accountable at the Commander in Chief’s direction,” CENTCOM wrote on X.

President Donald Trump threatened Iran during remarks at a defense summit on Wednesday.
“They don’t like what we’re doing, and they do want to settle. We’ll find out whether or not we settle with them, or we just finish it off,” Trump said.
U.S. military also fired at a ship it said was in the Strait of Hormuz, they accused of trying to break the naval blockade. They said the vessel ignored multiple warnings before firing at the ship.
The Strait of Hormuz has remained at the center of the war since Iran effectively closed the waterway to much of the world’s shipping after the U.S. and Israel launched their military campaign on Feb. 28. The disruption sent global oil, fertilizer and shipping costs soaring, underscoring the strategic importance of the narrow passage.
