US Embassy backs restoration of Shahhat’s Temple of Demeter
The US Embassy in Libya has announced support for the restoration of the Temple of Demeter in Shahhat through the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP).
The first phase of the project includes cleaning the site and removing accumulated vegetation in preparation for restoration work. The efforts are aimed at addressing damage caused by Storm Daniel and preserving a site of global historical and cultural importance.
According to the embassy, the project reflects a shared commitment to protecting Libya’s rich cultural heritage for future generations.
