UNESCO Laureate Commends Liberian President Boakai On Policy Reforms – Independent Newspaper Nigeria

The First African UNESCO Laureate & World Grand President of Chartered World Institute of Encyclopedia of Books, USA, Prof. Sir Bashiru Aremu, has commended Liberian President & World Grand Chairman of Board of Trustees, Crown University International Chartered Incorporated, USA ( Online Platform and Global Partners with Government Regulated Universities Worldwide), His Excellency, Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr., for his bold policy reforms and measurable achievements since assuming office in January 2024.
Daily Independent learnt this from Prof. Aremu Sir Bashiru Aremu in a telephone conversation with our reporter today being on Sunday, September 12, 2026, as the first African UNESCO Laureate described President Boakai’s two years and nine months in office as a period of fiscal discipline, infrastructural renewal, and restored international confidence for Liberia.
Speaking to our reporter, the World Records Holder has praised the Liberian President on economic transformation, as he stated that Boakai’s administration recorded historic revenue growth. Prof Aremu said: “Domestic revenue reached a record high of US$847.7 million in 2025, which enabled Liberia to present its first-ever national budget exceeding US$1.2 billion for Fiscal Year 2026”.
In the words of the First African UNESCO Laureate and World Records Holder:”Inflation has fallen to around 4 percent, a multi-year low, while foreign reserves have risen to US$576 million. The economy grew by 5.1 percent in 2025, driven largely by the mining sector. And Liberia met crucial International Monetary Fund (IMF) performance benchmarks under the Extended Credit Facility.
“On infrastructure and energy, I, Professor Sir Bashiru Aremu, use this medium to commend the President for constructing more than 121 kilometers of roads through late 2025 and for improving major trade corridors in the southeast of the country. The projects have enhanced connectivity and facilitated commerce”.
“I must also sincerely applaud President Boakai’s administration for stabilizing and expanding electricity infrastructure through the Liberia Electricity Corporation, LEC. And for operationalizing the Bopolu Water System as well as extending water supply to underserved communities”.
“In the area of governance and anti-corruption, I, Prof. Sir Bashiru Aremu, World Grand President of International Chartered World Learned Society USA and Associate world wide sees President Boakai’s actions as exemplary. A good example is the suspension of public officials who failed to declare assets, the initiation of comprehensive institutional audits, and the President’s personal decision to cut his salary by 40 percent”.

Finally, Africa Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Unity of Nations Actions for Climate Change Council, an official Partner of the United Nations,Prof. Aremu urged Liberians and the international community to sustain their support for President Boakai’s ARREST Agenda. He reaffirmed Crown University’s readiness to collaborate with Liberia in education, research, and human capacity development to consolidate the gains of the reforms.
