Ukraine Strikes Key Russia-to-Crimea Power Link in Major Drone Attack — UNITED24 Media

Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces (SBS) struck a key electricity transfer facility connecting Russia to temporarily occupied Crimea on July 8, targeting the main entry point of power supplied from Russia to the peninsula.

SBS Commander Robert “Madyar” Brovdi announced the strike on Telegram, publishing footage of the attack alongside other overnight operations.

According to Brovdi, Ukrainian forces targeted the main receiving point of the Kuban–Crimea energy bridge, which delivers electricity from Russia to temporarily occupied Crimea.

“Crimean switch off: on July 8, we struck the key entry point of electricity into Crimea from the Russian Federation, five electrical substations, a training ground, and three radar stations,” Brovdi said.

He said the targeted energy bridge spans approximately 14.5 kilometers and consists of four underwater cable lines. According to the commander, the strike hit the PP-2 Crimea transition station, which receives electricity through the submarine cables before transferring it to overhead power transmission lines across the peninsula.

Brovdi added that Ukrainian drone units have now struck 50 energy facilities in occupied Crimea and southern Russian-occupied territories between July 1 and July 8.

“Between July 1 and July 8, SBS Birds visited and ‘lit up’ 50 energy hubs in Crimea and the southern temporarily occupied territories. A deep and total blackout for the occupiers is inevitable—it will happen,” he said.

The commander identified several of the facilities targeted during the latest operation, including the Kuban–Crimea electricity transfer point near Hlazivka in temporarily occupied Crimea, the Nyzhnohirsk, Nasosna-3, and Novotroitske electrical substations in Crimea, as well as the Kalynove and Troitske substations in the Russian-occupied part of Ukraine’s Luhansk region.

Brovdi added that SBS drone units also struck 53 Russian military targets in temporarily occupied Crimea and the southern occupied territories during the same operation.

Just a day earlier, SBS carried out another overnight operation, targeting nine tankers from Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet” in the Sea of Azov.

According to Brovdi, Ukrainian drone units have struck a total of 19 shadow fleet tankers, one cargo vessel, and one ferry in the Kerch area over the past 72 hours.

The latest strikes come as Ukraine continues a 40-day strategic operation, authorized by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and led by the Security Service of Ukraine, focused on degrading Russia’s military capabilities through attacks on defense facilities, logistics hubs, and strategic energy infrastructure.
