Abu Dhabi — UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a cable of condolences to Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, expressing his heartfelt sympathy over the passing of former Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
Sheikh Mohamed conveyed his solidarity with Yemen’s leadership and people during this time of mourning, praying that God grant the late president mercy and his family patience and solace.
Similar messages of condolence were also dispatched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Head of the Presidential Court.
The UAE leadership underscored their support for Yemen’s stability and security, extending their wishes for continued peace and resilience for the Yemeni people.
The gesture coincides with Yemen’s official declaration of three days of national mourning and flag-lowering, following Hadi’s death in Riyadh after a health complication.
Hadi, a central figure in Yemen’s modern political and military history, served as Vice President from 1994 to 2012 before being elected as consensus president during the transitional phase after the 2011 uprising.
In April 2022, he transferred his presidential powers to the newly formed Presidential Leadership Council, aiming to unify political efforts and guide Yemen through a new stage.
His legacy remains tied to one of the most sensitive and complex periods in Yemen’s contemporary history, marked by profound political and security challenges.
