U.S. SPECIAL ENVOY GOR VISITS KYRGYZ REPUBLIC FOR WORLD NOMAD GAMES – U.S. Embassy in The Kyrgyz Republic

Worldwide Caution: The Department of State advises Americans worldwide to exercise increased caution.

U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Ambassador Sergio Gor traveled to Bishkek to attend the opening ceremony of the sixth World Nomad Games and engage with leaders from across Central Asia, reaffirming the United States’ commitment to a secure, sovereign, and prosperous Central Asia.

While in Bishkek, Ambassador Gor met with Kyrgyz Republic President Sadyr Zhaparov as the two nations celebrate 35 years of U.S.-Kyrgyz relations and reaffirm the United States’ commitment to a strengthened, forward-looking partnership with the Kyrgyz Republic as it prepares to take its seat on the UN Security Council.

Ambassador Gor also held bilateral meetings with the Presidents of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan on opportunities to strengthen bilateral and regional cooperation, including through the C5+1. Discussions focused on expanding commercial engagement, strengthening energy security, and advancing regional connectivity and security.

The World Nomad Games celebrate the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Central Asia. The United States was proud to join our Kyrgyzstani hosts and regional partners in marking this important celebration and supporting the American athletes representing the United States in the competitions.
