Two Moroccan Military Cadets Make History at US Service

Rabat– Two Moroccan military cadets began a new chapter in their careers in the United States last June after joining the US Air Force Academy and the US Naval Academy.

The US Embassy in Rabat announced that the two admissions marked historic milestones in their military careers. The Moroccan Air Force cadet is the first Moroccan to join the US Air Force Academy in 30 years, while the Royal Moroccan Navy cadet is the first Moroccan ever admitted to the US Naval Academy.

Their admission will give both cadets the opportunity to combine academic studies with military training in the United States. They are expected to spend four years at the two institutions before returning to Morocco to serve as commissioned officers.

Four Years of Study and Training

During their four-year programs, the cadets will undertake academic studies alongside military training, gaining experience in the US military education system before continuing their careers within Morocco’s armed forces.

Their selection represents more than the admission of two Moroccan students to American military institutions. It also marks a historic first in each cadet’s respective service, particularly for the Royal Moroccan Navy cadet, who is the first Moroccan ever to attend the US Naval Academy.

Part of a Longstanding Defense Partnership

The move comes as Morocco and the United States continue to deepen their military and security cooperation.

One of the most prominent examples is African Lion, the annual multinational military exercise involving the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces, US forces and troops from other participating countries.

In July, Rabat also hosted the African Maritime Forces Summit, organized by the Royal Moroccan Navy in partnership with US Naval Forces Europe-Africa and US Marine Corps Forces Europe-Africa. The summit brought together military officials to discuss maritime security, regional cooperation and technological innovation.

Beyond operational cooperation, the partnership also includes military education, training and exchanges, giving the cadets’ enrollment at the two US academies an additional dimension.

A New Chapter in Their Military Careers

After completing their four years of study and training, the two cadets are expected to return to Morocco and serve as officers.

The experience gained in the United States is expected to become part of their professional development as they continue their military careers and contribute to the ongoing cooperation between the Moroccan and US armed forces.

The US Embassy congratulated the two cadets and wished them success as they begin their studies, saying their journey would contribute to the enduring US-Morocco partnership.
