Türkiye, Egypt sign agreements to deepen bilateral cooperation

Ankara, Aug. 14 (SANA) Türkiye and Egypt signed a series of cooperation agreements during the second meeting of their Joint Planning Group in the Egyptian city of Alamein, as the two countries move to deepen bilateral ties.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty signed the minutes of the Joint Planning Group meeting on Thursday, Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry said in a post on the NSosyal platform.

Fidan and Egyptian Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid Saleh also signed a decision amending Protocol No. 3 on rules of origin under the Türkiye-Egypt free trade agreement.

Abdelatty separately signed a document on Egypt’s accession to a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening transport connectivity between Türkiye and African coastal countries, the ministry said.

Fidan, whose visit to Egypt concludes Friday, said at a joint news conference with Abdelatty on Thursday that Ankara and Cairo were working to deepen cooperation based on mutual trust and shared interests.
