The US President wrote, “Ukraine agreed not to strike Russian energy facilities. Russia agreed to do exact same thing! Global diesel price increases are mainly caused by the war between Russia and Ukraine, not Iran.”

According to Trump, the ongoing surges in global diesel fuel prices are primarily driven by Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine rather than events involving Iran.

He added that Russia provided assurances to halt further strikes directed at Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

During talks in Kyiv on September 6, 2026, US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner held discussions regarding a potential winter pause on energy strikes between Ukraine and Russia.

During the talks, American representatives argued against further escalation, pointing out that previous winter campaigns had failed to yield operational results for Russia or break Ukrainian resolve.

An informed source noted that both nations considered a limited ceasefire to halt attacks on energy infrastructure, opening potential avenues for future diplomatic progress following upcoming elections.
