Doctors at Tripoli University Hospital have successfully performed 12 transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) procedures, marking a step forward in providing advanced cardiac treatment locally.
The operations were carried out during a specialised workshop, in collaboration with a visiting Egyptian doctor, with participation from cardiology and cardiac surgery teams.
TAVI is a minimally invasive technique used to treat severe aortic valve stenosis. It can, in many cases, replace the need for open-heart surgery, reducing complications and speeding up recovery.
