Tripoli council blames authorities for worsening living conditions

The Tripoli Social Council has blamed the “authorities in place” for worsening living conditions in Libya and called for urgent action to address economic and public service crises.

In a statement, the council said cash shortages, soaring prices, inadequate electricity supplies, repeated water cuts and deteriorating basic services were adding to hardship faced by households across the country.

It called for immediate reforms to address the causes of the crises, saying basic living needs should be kept separate from political disputes.

The council also expressed support for peaceful protests and public rallies to demand citizens’ rights, provided they remained orderly and protected state institutions from chaos.

It called for an end to the depletion of public resources, greater transparency over government spending and investigations into corruption. It further warned that worsening living conditions directly threatened national security and social stability.
