Transocean wins fresh Equatorial Guinea drillship contract

Swiss-based offshore drilling giant Transocean has won drillship work in Equatorial Guinea with an undisclosed operator.

Transocean said it was awarded a two-well contract for its 2016-built drillship Deepwater Conqueror.

The estimated 170-day campaign is expected to commence in 2027 in direct continuation of the rig’s current $530,000 per day contract in the US Gulf of Mexico. That contract started back in October 2025.

According to the company, the new deal will add about $80m to the backlog, excluding additional services and compensation for mobilisation and demobilisation.
