Transfer Twist: Vandala ‘Rejoining’ Sekhukh…

Just weeks after being unveiled as one of AmaZulu FC’s new signings for the 2026/27 season, Mncedi Vandala has completed a return to Sekhukhune United, the Siya crew has learnt.

As previously reported by the Siya crew, uncertainty surrounded the midfielder’s proposed move to Usuthu, with Sekhukhune understood to have been unhappy with the circumstances surrounding the transfer.

Now, sources have indicated that the deal to AmaZulu has collapsed, paving the way for the 29-year-old to rejoin Babina Noko.

“Scara Vandala is back at Sekhukhune United. The deal with AmaZulu didn’t go ahead after the club experienced issues with getting his clearance. He’s signed a contract with Sekhukhune, and he’s already in Johannesburg to link up with the team on their way back from winning the Mafori Cup in Limpopo over the weekend,” a Siya source revealed.

The development follows reports earlier this month that Sekhukhune believed they had first option to bring Vandala back after his move to Magesi FC.

The midfielder had initially joined Dikwena tša Meetse after Sekhukhune parted ways with him to facilitate a transfer, with an understanding between the clubs that Babina Noko would have the opportunity to re-sign him in future.

However, Vandala appeared set to begin a new chapter at AmaZulu after being unveiled by the Durban-based side alongside six other recruits ahead of the new campaign.

The latest developments suggest the transfer could not be finalised, with clearance-related issues understood to have prevented the move from being completed.

Instead, Vandala has now put pen to paper on a contract with Sekhukhune and is expected to rejoin the squad immediately as they continue preparations for the new Betway Premiership season following their successful Mafori Cup campaign.

The Siya crew contacted both AmaZulu and Sekhukhune United for comment. At the time of publishing, neither club had responded.
