The former Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City boss, who signed for the two-time African champions in July, has moved the club’s pre-season to Accra as they fine-tune ahead of the new campaign, which kicks off on the weekend of 5-6 September.

Kotoko, whose last domestic top-flight trophy came four years ago, are bent on coming out of their shells under the South African manager next season, according to Pan-Africa Football.

Tinkler’s Pre-Season Vision for Kotoko

Tinkler discussed matters concerning building a solid foundation for the Ghanaian giants, emphasising the importance of a rigorous pre-season programme.

“We are looking to start building a foundation, a physical foundation leading up to the start of the league. We really have to over-cross things and start setting friendly games, a lot I would normally do in a pre-season because I said we needed to assess players to see the quality that we have,” Tinkler told Asante Kotoko media.

“We needed to do a lot of scouting over the past three, four weeks, you know, it’s been pretty tough for Stanley and myself because we haven’t had much sleep,” he added.

Tinkler Targets Squad Overhaul

The 54-year-old indicated that there would be a number of changes to the squad, with several new faces and foreign-based players set to arrive.

“That’s what we should expect. There are going to be several changes in terms of the squad,” Tinkler said.

“A lot of new faces, a lot of foreign-based players; they come with a lot of experience as well, which I think is very important. There are one or two surprises that are coming in terms of our signings, and I think you are going to see a team that is going to fight to compete,” he added.
