Three South Africans Carry the Flag into Vic Bay Surf Pro Semifinals on Sunday

South Africa will carry three women into the semifinals of the Rip Curl Vic Bay Surf Pro after Sarah Baum, defending champion Natasha van Greunen and 2025 runner-up Zoë Steyn all came through a full day of the women’s Qualifying Series 2,000 at Victoria Bay in George, Western Cape, on Saturday, 20 June 2026.

Baum and Van Greunen will meet in an all-South African first semifinal, while Steyn faces the lone overseas survivor, France’s Sarah Leiceaga, in the second.

The quarterfinals produced the turnaround of the day, with Day 1 pacesetter Hina-Maria Conradi of Reunion knocked out by Leiceaga, who posted a 13.87 to the Reunion surfer’s 10.80.

Baum booked her place with a commanding 13.67 to beat Morocco’s Lilias Tebbai in the first quarterfinal, Van Greunen edged Morocco’s Ninon Mattei 11.40 to 10.23 in the second, and Steyn accounted for Anastasia Venter in an all-South African quarterfinal in the fourth.

The quarterfinal line-up had been settled earlier in the Round of 16, where Conradi top-scored the round with a 15.16.

That round ended the campaigns of several South Africans, among them Emily Jenkinson, Taylor Emslie, Gabriella Herbst, Jessie van Niekerk and both Lepront sisters, Louise Lepront and Leah Lepront.
