Time is winding down to see Science World double as one of, if not the, biggest soccer ball in B.C.

Soccer & Technology from the FIFA Museum has been housed at Science World since long before the first kickoff of the FIFA World Cup in June.

But come Sept. 7, the exhibit comes to a close and the soccer ball returns to resembling something more akin to a golf ball.

The display almost serves as a time capsule that traces how rudimentary technology used in the 1950s has morphed into the marvels of 70-plus years later: the advent of motion-sensor technology, millions of data points used to track game play, or instant replays that can decide the fate of a match by mere centimetres.

The experience also comes complete with match-worn jerseys and game balls used by Canadian soccer luminaries including Christine Sinclair, Alphonso Davies and Atiba Hutchinson.
