Oslo-listed seismic data specialist TGS has been awarded a contract to undertake a multi-client 3D seismic survey in Brunei by the country’s petroleum authority. The seismic firm is also starting a reprocessing project off the coast of Sierra Leone.
This award encompasses the provision of new 3D seismic acquisition, processing and marketing in Brunei under a multi-client model.
This project enables TGS to seek prefunding interest from the industry to deliver modern, high-quality 3D data to better understand reservoir potential, de-risk leads and support investment decisions ahead of future licensing rounds.
This project supports the country’s broader objective of attracting international investment and catalysing the further development of the oil and gas upstream sector in Brunei and complements TGS’ existing multi-client footprint across the Asia Pacific region.
In other company news, TGS stated today that it was commencing the Sierra Leone 2D and Mabesi 3D Vision reprocessing projects offshore Sierra Leone.
The program includes full reprocessing of 24,000 km of field data from multiple input surveys, including 2D seismic data and 4,155 sq km of Mabesi 3D seismic data.
Early-out products from both projects are expected to be available in 2026. Final products from Mabesi 3D Vision are expected in the first quarter of 2027, with final products from Sierra Leone 2D Vision expected in the third quarter of 2027.
