Tetra Pak’s Rausing family dumps $1bn of US stocks in Q2

The Rausing family, which built its fortune on Tetra Pak cartons, sold more than $1 billion of US equities in the second quarter, joining wealthy investors globally who are trimming exposure to the world’s largest stock market, Bloomberg reported.

It is the Swedish billionaires’ biggest reduction in US stocks in at least two years and represents roughly one-fifth of their overall American holdings, which sit within a portfolio Bloomberg valued at $17 billion.

The Rausings are among the most secretive large allocators in Europe, and their US positions are visible only through mandatory 13F filings. A cut of this size is one of the few readable signals of how a major European dynasty is positioning against US equity valuations and it lands alongside similar trimming by other family offices.

The direction is a reversal. Bloomberg reported in July 2025 that the family had built roughly $9 billion in global public stock bets, a period of accumulation that this quarter interrupts.

Tetra Pak was founded in 1951 by Ruben Rausing, and the fortune now spans multiple branches and jurisdictions. Family wealth is managed through several entities, including London-based Alta Advisers, founded in 1996, and Swiss-based Longbow Finance the vehicles through which the family’s disclosed equity positions have previously surfaced.
