The Taiwan Technical Mission (ICDF) has organised a training session on papaya cultivation and seed production techniques in Haiti as part of the Haitian Fruit and Vegetable Production Development Project.
Thirty farmers took part in the one-day program, which focused on strengthening papaya production skills through technical training and practical field demonstrations.
The training concentrated on the management of young plants and post-transplant care. Participants received step-by-step guidance on cultivation practices aimed at reducing plant mortality, supporting plant growth, and improving fruit quality and future yields.
Practical demonstrations and on-site instruction formed part of the programme, allowing farmers to exchange experiences while receiving technical guidance.
According to the Taiwan Technical Mission, the training is intended to improve the survival rate and growth of transplanted papaya plants while supporting the wider adoption of improved papaya varieties as part of the development of Haiti’s fruit and vegetable sector.
