Sunshine Stars Unveil Duke Udi, Banjo Adepoju Tech Adviser, Head Coach – Independent Newspaper Nigeria

AKURE – Ahead 2026/2027 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) has officially unveiled former Super Eagles midfielder Duke Udi and Banjo Adepoju as the Technical Adviser and Head Coach of Sunshine Stars FC respectively.

According to a statement signed by the Media Officer of ODSFA, Isaac Afolabi made available to journalists on Friday, the duo were unveiled by a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Chairman of ODSFA, Divine Ogbonnaya, amidst a fanfare held at the club’s camp along Oda Road, Akure, the Ondo State capital.

In his address, Ogbonnaya charged Duke Udi to remain focused on the task ahead and avoid all forms of distraction while the club pursues its objectives in the forthcoming NNL campaign.

He assured that the agency is committed to providing an enabling environment for the technical crew and players, emphasising that the ultimate goal is to ensure a successful season and return Sunshine Stars FC to its rightful place among Nigeria’s elite football clubs.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Ondo State Football Association, Chief Dele Ajayi, assured that the association would not relent in its resolve to continue to collaborate with ODSFA in promoting football development and supporting the club’s quest to regain promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

In his response, the newly appointed Technical Adviser, Duke Udi, assured stakeholders that he would do hid best possible to take the club back to the top flight.

He appreciates the Ondo State Football Agency and the management of Sunshine Stars FC for the confidence reposed in him.

The Head Coach, Banjo Adepoju, also pledged to work closely with other members of the technical crew with a view to ensuring that players are selected strictly on merit as the club prepares for the new season.

Among the key stakeholders in attendance at the unveiling ceremony include members of the FA board, management officials, and other football stakeholders in the state.

Earlier, players and officials of Sunshine Stars U-19 were treated to a colourful reception following their impressive performance at the 2026 President Federation Cup.

Although the team was eliminated by Barau FC, they received commendation for their remarkable run to the Round of 16, having overcome several highly-rated opponents during the competition.
