Sungrow, collaborating with ACO and Korra Energi, has activated a 1.4 MWp solar installation at the Esh El Mallaha petroleum facility near Hurghada, according to a report from TradeArabia News Service. The initiative tackles ongoing power supply difficulties in Egypt’s remote oil and gas operations.

The system replaces a portion of diesel-generated electricity with renewable power, enhancing dependability for essential desert activities and lowering the complexity of fuel transport as well as emissions.

The setup includes nine SG150CX string inverters employing multi-MPPT technology to boost solar energy capture. An integrated digital monitoring platform offers real-time performance observation and condition-based upkeep, which reduces equipment downtime in challenging desert environments.

Annual generation is projected to reach 125 MWh, with an accompanying reduction of 125 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. Beyond environmental advantages, the project strengthens operational stability and cost-effectiveness in an industry facing weak grid connectivity, extreme temperatures, dust, and growing energy needs.

Aya Zanaty, Chairman of ACO, noted that the oil and gas sector is prioritizing better energy efficiency and operational resilience while managing emissions and cost risks. He stated that this project illustrates how on-site solar generation can be integrated into current power systems to cut diesel dependence at the facility level.
