Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies opened the second Hollywoodbets Super League Amplified festival in commanding fashion on Friday, brushing aside University of Pretoria 4-0 to climb to the top of the Super Era stream, while Richmond United fought back to beat Diepkloof Ladies 2-1, in a busy opening day of Super Era action at Tuks Stadium in Pretoria on Friday, 19 June 2026.
The defending champions were ruthless against their Tshwane hosts in an all-Tshwane derby. Karabo Dhlamini opened the scoring in the 12th minute, before Noxolo Cesane struck twice in quick succession, in the 21st and 32nd minutes, to put Sundowns three goals clear by the interval.
Substitute Munashe Mugwara completed the rout in the 85th minute, sealing a 4-0 victory and a second successive clean sheet for the league’s early pacesetters. At the back, Player of the Match Nonhlanhla Mthandi marshalled a defence that is yet to be breached this season.
The result lifted Sundowns to maximum points from their opening two matches, with 10 goals scored and none conceded, and underlined their status as the team to beat. The win also extended their remarkable head-to-head record over University of Pretoria, a series the champions now lead by seven matches to none. Cesane’s clinical brace took her to three goals for the season, making her the Super Era’s leading scorer and the standout attacker of the opening day.
For University of Pretoria, the heavy defeat was a sobering follow-up to their impressive 3-0 opening win away to Stellenbosch. The result dropped them to fourth in the standings, level on three points with the sides immediately above them but separated by goal difference, and offered an early reminder of the gap the chasing pack must close to reach the champions.
Earlier on Friday, Richmond United produced the day’s most dramatic contest, recovering from a goal down to defeat Diepkloof Ladies 2-1 in an absorbing encounter. Diepkloof made the brighter start and took a deserved lead through Lorraine Makhoali in the eighth minute, but their advantage lasted barely two minutes.

Mmaphuti Tapala restored parity for Richmond in the 10th minute, and the comeback was completed five minutes into the second half when Player of the Match Zoe de Kock struck the decisive goal in the 50th minute, settling a contest that swung on fine margins.
The victory marked a significant turnaround for Richmond, who had fallen to a 3-1 defeat against Copperbelt Ladies on the opening weekend. Three points lifted them to third in the Super Era table, level on points with University of Pretoria and just behind second-placed Copperbelt Ladies, and rewarded a resilient performance built on their composed response to going behind.

Defeat, by contrast, left Diepkloof Ladies rooted to the foot of the standings. A second successive loss, following their 6-0 reverse against Sundowns on the opening weekend, leaves the newcomers still searching for their first point of the campaign, with a goal difference of minus seven the steepest in the stream. There were, however, encouraging signs in their willingness to take the game to Richmond and in Makhoali’s early strike.
With two matches completed, Sundowns sit clear at the summit on six points, with Copperbelt Ladies second, Richmond United third and University of Pretoria fourth, while Diepkloof Ladies prop up the table.
The festival rolls on across the weekend, with two more Super Era fixtures and the full Super Rise card still to play at Tuks Stadium, and there is plenty still to settle as the early-season picture continues to take shape in South African women’s football.
