Sunday Dech Signs with Cairns Taipans for NBL Season

Cairns Taipans (NBL) signed Sunday Dech, a 32-year-old guard, for the upcoming season. Dech, who stands at 195cm, previously played for Perth Wildcats and averaged 3.2ppg and 1.0rpg in 30 games last season. He also played for Adelaide 36ers during the 2024-25 season.
Dech also represented Australia at the FIBA Olympic Games in Paris (France) two years ago. During this event he scored an average of 1.5 points per game and had rebounds per game.
He has also played professionally in New Zealand (Rams, Sharks, and Saints), Australia (Hawks, Eagles, Raiders, and Rockets), and New Zealand.
Dech won the Australian NBL1 championship title in 2021.
He graduated from Barry University in 2018 and this will be his ninth season in pro basketball. Dech also played for Metropolitan State University of Denver for 2 years.
