So, bus update: we are only just getting started.
They’ve just gone past the Arco de Moncloa, which as you can see by the route map below is at the very start.
They will proceed down the historic Calle de la Princesa, before turning onto the Calle de Alberto Aguilera.
They will continue along the longest straight of the route, passing through Calle de Carranza, Calle de Sagasta, Calle de Genova, Calle de Genova and Calle de Goya, which will see the bus go by some of Madrid’s most emblematic locations such as the Monument to Christopher Colombus.
Then comes the finale, with the bus making a right onto Calle de Serrano and continuing past the Puerta de Alcala before turning onto Calle de Montalban. There, it will drive past the Cibeles Palace, where the main event of the celebrations will take place.

Spain’s open-top bus is en route to Cibeles Palace – but before that, the world champions were met with a royal welcome by King Felipe VI and his family.

There’s a big festival-like stage at the end of the parade route, next to Cibeles Palace, where the DJ is keeping the sea of fans entertained as the bus makes its way through Madrid.
I’ve been able to make out Gasolina by Daddy Yankee and Baby by Justin Bieber so far. English or Spanish, these lot are in full voice.

It is absolutely bouncing at the finishing point of the parade, where unsurprisingly the only tarmac visible is the path that the bus will take.
A complete sea of red and yellow, including a fair few umbrellas as fans brave the sweltering heat. But even they are colour-coded.

Looks like the bus parade is just a few minutes away from getting started.
The players are suited and booted and have just come from reception at Moncloa Palace with Spanish prime minister Pedro Sanchez. That followed a royal welcome home by King Felipe VI.
Luis de la Fuente is now speaking in front of a crowd at the start of the route, in front of a big sign that reads: “¡Vamos Espana!”
