Spain Condemns Houthi Attacks on Yemen , Saudi Arabia, Reaffirms Support for Regional Stability

MADRID – The Spanish government has strongly condemned what it described as indiscriminate attacks carried out by the Houthi terrorist militia against the internationally recognized Yemeni government forces and civilian facilities in various parts of Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, Spain renewed its solidarity with Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expressing its wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured in the attacks.

Madrid also voiced deep concern over the growing regional instability resulting from the escalation by the Houthi militia, warning that such actions pose a threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both Yemen and Saudi Arabia, as well as to the security of navigation in the Red Sea.

The Spanish government reiterated its support for Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council and the internationally recognized government in their efforts to strengthen the country’s security and stability and confront external interference in its internal affairs.

Spain stressed that such interference constitutes a violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216, which calls for respect for Yemen’s sovereignty and the cessation of actions that undermine the country’s political process and stability.

The statement also called on the Houthi militia to immediately halt its attacks and violations of international law and to end the military escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region.

Spain reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts aimed at achieving peace, stability, and security in Yemen and across the wider region.
