The league features 12 teams competing in its first season: Juba Queens, Munuki Women, Bentiu City, Yei Joint Stars, Simba, El-Merriekh Juba, Kator, Wajuma, Malakia, Nile Eagle, Salam Aweil, and Atlabara Women.

The winning team will receive $15,000, while the runner-up will receive $5,000.

Speaking at the launch, SSFF President Francis Amin Michael asked families and local communities to allow daughters to participate in football programs.

Suzan John, the South Sudan Women Representative, noted that the competition offers female players a structure to enter regional and international tournaments.

“Today is a meaningful day for South Sudanese women as we launch this Women’s Premier League in Juba,” John said.

The league aims to provide a competitive schedule for local players to gain match experience and career advancement in national and international competitions.
