South Operations Room says it captured Haftar forces members, pledges humane treatment

The South Liberation Operations Room said in a statement that it had captured a number of individuals during clashes it said took place Monday with forces affiliated with Khalifa Haftar in areas of southern Libya.

The operations room said the detainees included children and elderly individuals, claiming they had been sent to the front lines of the fighting. It added that all detainees are being treated humanely in accordance with humanitarian principles, values, and customs.

It also warned against what it described as attempts to spread misinformation or carry out indiscriminate shelling and then blame it for any harm that may befall the detainees, according to the statement.

It concluded by calling on families to withdraw their sons from Haftar’s forces, accusing them of violations including abductions, enforced disappearances, and the mistreatment of detainees; allegations that could not be independently verified.
