South Africa Beat Zimbabwe | Dewald Brevis Blitz & Marco Jansen Shine
South Africa’s Dewald Brevis hit 7 fours and 6 sixes.
South Africa defeated Zimbabwe by 7 wickets in the second match of the T20 tri-series played in Windhoek. Coming out to bat first, Zimbabwe scored 144 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. In response, South Africa won the match by scoring 146 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 13.4 overs.
Dewald Brevis played an unbeaten innings of 75 runs off 32 balls. He hit 7 fours and 6 sixes. This was his second consecutive 75-run innings in the tri-series. South Africa had lost their first match to Namibia by 18 runs.
Zimbabwe got quick start but kept losing wickets
Zimbabwe, batting first after winning the toss, had a good start. Ben Curran scored 24 runs off 12 balls. He also scored 14 runs in one over from Duan Jansen. Brian Bennett carried the innings forward with him. Curran was caught at mid-off after scoring 24 runs.
Tadiwanashe Marumani also scored runs quickly. He played an innings of 30 runs off 13 balls. Bennett scored 34 runs off 35 balls. However, Zimbabwe’s run rate slowed down after the powerplay.

Zimbabwe’s score was 74/1 after 9 overs. After that, the team could only add 20 runs and lost four wickets in the next 6.1 overs. Prenelan Subrayen curbed the run-scoring in the middle overs. Following this, Eathan Bosch and Kwena Maphaka also troubled the batters with their slower deliveries.
Sikandar Raza was caught off Bosch’s bowling after scoring 10 runs. Ryan Burl was bowled by Subrayen. After that, Wessly Madhevere and Marumani added 43 runs off 23 balls for the sixth wicket. After Marumani got out, Zimbabwe could only add 14 runs in the last two overs and reached 144/8.
Marco Jansen bagged 3 wickets
Duan Jansen was the most successful bowler for South Africa. He took 3 wickets for 45 runs in 4 overs. Prenelan Subrayen claimed 2 wickets.
Eathan Bosch took 1 wicket in his debut match. He conceded only 20 runs in 4 overs. Kwena Maphaka also secured one wicket.

Brevis slammed 6 sixes
Chasing 145 runs, South Africa got off to a quick start. Jordan Hermann and Luan-dre Pretorius added 32 runs off 20 balls for the first wicket. Hermann was dismissed after scoring 20 runs off 13 balls.
Pretorius scored 22 runs off 13 balls. After he got out, Brevis came to the crease and hit a six on the very first ball. He completed his half-century in 24 balls. After the powerplay, South Africa had reached a score of 61/2.
Brevis specifically targeted Graeme Cremer. He plundered 32 runs in his two overs. Brevis hit four sixes against Cremer. After 10 overs, South Africa’s score was 103/2.
Brevis scored 75 runs off 32 balls. His innings included 7 fours and 6 sixes. Rubin Hermann scored an unbeaten 11 runs off 7 balls. Both shared an unbeaten partnership of 39 runs to lead the team to victory.

De Zorzi’s poor form continues
South Africa’s Tony de Zorzi was dismissed for under 20 runs for the second consecutive match. He scored 15 runs against Zimbabwe. Prior to this, he was out for 9 runs against Namibia.
South Africa gets 2 points; Zimbabwe haven’t won yet
After the latest win, South Africa has 2 points. Namibia also has 2 points. Zimbabwe has not bagged any points yet since they lost the first match. Namibia and Zimbabwe will face each other on Monday.
