Sonatrach Begins Exporting First Shipments of Aviation Fuel to Niger

Algeria’s state-owned energy giant Sonatrach has commenced the delivery of its first shipments of “Jet A1” aviation fuel to Niger, dispatched from the Adrar refinery (RA1D). This operation is part of the execution of a sale and purchase agreement signed with Niger’s National Petroleum Company (SONIDEP), according to a statement released by the Sonatrach group on Saturday.

The export operation, which officially kicked off on Friday, aligns with the directives of the country’s highest authorities to bolster commercial and economic relations with the Republic of Niger, while materializing the contractual commitments established between Sonatrach and SONIDEP.

The commencement of these Jet A1 deliveries marks the practical entry into the implementation phase of commercial cooperation between the two companies. It significantly enhances cross-border trade in hydrocarbons and refined petroleum products between Algeria and Niger.

Furthermore, this initiative fits into Sonatrach’s broader strategic efforts to expand and consolidate direct cooperation with African oil and gas companies, particularly in the Sahel region. It paves the way for new opportunities to supply regional markets with Algerian petroleum products on a regular and sustainable basis.
