Somalia Welcomes Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan’s Mecca Joint Defence Agreement
Mogadishu — Somalia’s Ministry of Defence has welcomed the signing of the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense by Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan, describing the pact as a significant milestone in strengthening regional defence cooperation and collective security.

In a statement, the ministry congratulated the three countries on the agreement, saying it marked “an important historical step” towards enhancing collective security, expanding defence cooperation and establishing an effective strategic partnership to address shared security challenges.
The ministry said it believed the agreement would contribute to efforts aimed at promoting regional and international peace and stability. It added that the pact would reinforce the principles of cooperation, solidarity and shared responsibility among participating states.
According to the statement, Somalia hopes the agreement will serve the interests of the peoples of the region and support broader efforts to strengthen peace and security.
The ministry did not provide further details on the agreement or outline any direct role for Somalia in the initiative.
