Somalia and Ethiopia Leaders Hold Talks on Security and Regional Cooperation
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has held bilateral talks with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Addis Ababa, with discussions centred on economic cooperation, security coordination, and regional stability in the Horn of Africa.
The meeting forms part of continued high-level engagement between Ethiopia and Somalia as both countries seek to strengthen cooperation on shared priorities, including peace, security, and economic integration.
Following the talks, Prime Minister Abiy said the discussions were conducted in a spirit of “trust and mutual respect”, highlighting the importance of maintaining close dialogue between the neighbouring states.
He said Ethiopia and Somalia “share more than borders”, adding that the relationship between the two countries is also shaped by “people and a common destiny”.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Addis Ababa on Sunday for an official working visit.
The visit comes amid broader regional efforts to reinforce political dialogue and cooperation across the Horn of Africa, where security and economic issues remain closely interconnected.
