While the U17 teams are in full preparation for the World Cup in their category and Serigne Saliou Dia has called up his first squad to prepare for CAN 2023, Sport News Africa has learned that none of these coaches have a contract with the Federation, nor even an agreement. They are all freelancers.
The new team cuts previous benefits
Under the former federal team, the head coaches all had contracts and the assistants had service agreements. This benefit was simply ended by the new team, despite repeated reminders from those involved about the previous operating procedures.
Although the staffs do not plan to clash with the Federation, this situation strongly displeases these technicians and their teams. They feel abandoned by the organization.
In April 2026, the Senegalese Football Federation had indeed unveiled the technical setup for the national teams. Everything suggested their situation was improving. The current observation, however, is quite the opposite.
