Seminar highlights role of Libyan arts in national identity

The Libyan Authority for Scientific Research in Benghazi has held a seminar on the role of the arts in shaping national identity and enhancing Libya’s cultural standing.

The event brought together academics and researchers to discuss how Libyan arts can reflect the country’s heritage and strengthen its presence regionally and internationally.

Branch head Mona Al-Houni said the seminar forms part of efforts to support research and link it to national priorities. She added that the arts are a key pillar of identity, reflecting history and cultural heritage, and called for greater academic study to highlight Libya’s cultural value.

Participants stressed the importance of connecting research with societal needs and using scientific approaches to study the arts and promote their role in reinforcing national identity.
