Sekhukhune Confirm New Deal For Veteran Car…

Sekhukhune United have officially confirmed that veteran defender Daniel Cardoso has signed a new contract to remain at the club for the 2026/27 season.

Babina Noko announced on Monday that the 37-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year extension, validating earlier information reported by the Siya crew that an agreement had been reached between the two parties.

In a statement, the club praised Cardoso’s influence since arriving ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

“Sekhukhune United Football Club is delighted to announce that veteran defender Daniel Cardoso has extended his contract with the Club,” confirmed the club in a statement on their official X account.

“Since joining Babina Noko in 2022/23 season, Cardoso has been a pillar of leadership, professionalism and consistency, making a significant contribution both on and off the field. His experience, commitment and winning mentality continue to play an important role within the squad,” saif Babina Noko.  

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, the club viewed the extension as recognition of Cardoso’s outstanding service, leadership and continued importance within the dressing room.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Free State Stars defender once again proved his value during the 2025/26 campaign, making 31 appearances in all competitions while remaining one of Sekhukhune’s most dependable performers.

Cardoso joined Babina Noko as a free agent in 2022 following the end of his seven-year spell at Chiefs and has established himself as one of the senior figures in the squad.

His experience is expected to be invaluable as Sekhukhune prepare for the new season under head coach Cedric Kaze, with the club looking to build on last season’s progress.
