Sebastian Yatra: First Colombian Artist to Serve as an Ambassador for NYFW Live at Rockefeller Center
Sebastian Yatra has added another achievement to his international career after being selected as one of the official ambassadors of NYFW Live at Rockefeller Center, an initiative led by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), Rockefeller Center, and Genesys during New York Fashion Week 2026.
With the appointment, the Colombian singer becomes, according to information released about the announcement, the first Colombian artist to take on this role within the program. Yatra will share the ambassador role with Mexican-American singer Becky G and DJ and producer Honey Dijon, who were also selected as ambassadors for the project’s third edition.
The appointment marks another intersection between music and fashion in the artist’s career, as his public image has increasingly been associated with events and platforms connected to the fashion industry in recent years.

The Colombian’s selection comes at a time when his career is increasingly expanding beyond music. His personal style, appearances at international events, and relationship with renowned fashion houses have made aesthetics an important part of his identity as an artist.
That connection now takes on a more institutional dimension through NYFW Live at Rockefeller Center. The program aims to bring American designers’ collections to a wider audience through public screenings and presentations during New York Fashion Week.
For the 2026 edition, Rockefeller Center once again serves as a meeting point between the fashion industry and the public. From September 10 to 15, visitors will be able to watch a selection of runway shows on a large-format screen at The Rink, with free admission.
The initiative features presentations from renowned fashion houses and designers included in the official season schedule, including Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors Collection, Coach, Tory Burch, Tommy Hilfiger, Thom Browne, Anna Sui, Calvin Klein Collection and LaQuan Smith.
An initiative designed to bring fashion closer to the public
Yatra’s role as an ambassador is part of an effort to expand the reach of New York Fashion Week and bring the runway experience beyond the spaces traditionally reserved for industry professionals.
According to the CFDA, the partnership with Rockefeller Center seeks to create a kind of “public front row,” allowing residents and visitors to get closer to American fashion collections and watch runway shows from one of New York City’s most iconic locations.
The strategy also reflects the evolution of NYFW Live at Rockefeller Center. In 2026, the project reaches its third edition while maintaining its goal of connecting designers’ work with audiences who would not normally have direct access to New York Fashion Week shows.
Yatra’s participation also adds a Latin American dimension to the platform. His presence alongside Becky G and Honey Dijon highlights how figures from music and other creative fields can become representatives of contemporary fashion and help expand its cultural reach.
