Ciaran Doyle gives his best bet on DraftKings Sportsbook for Friday’s FIFA World Cup match between Scotland and Morocco.
Best Bet for Scotland vs. Morocco
- Morocco Moneyline: Morocco went toe-to-toe with one of the favorites in this tournament, Brazil, in their opening match. They ended up with a draw, however their performance was much more impressive than Scotland’s, even though the Scots won. Scotland beat Haiti 1-0 in their opening match, but the gap between the two opposition is massive. Morocco are ranked seventh in the world in the FIFA rankings for a reason, and the 2022 semi-finalists should have enough to win this one.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup continues on Friday as Scotland faces Morocco in the second round of matches in Group C.
Let’s dive into my favorite bet for this match.
Morocco is currently ranked seventh in the FIFA rankings, while Scotland sits at 38th in the world.
Morocco finished with a 1-1 draw against Brazil in their opening match, while Scotland beat Haiti 1-0. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see the difference between the two opponents, so I would argue Morocco were much more impressive in the opening round of Group C.
Despite only earning a draw, you could argue that Morocco deserved more from their match against Brazil. They had more shots, slightly more expected goals and an almost even split of possession with 49%. Doing that against one of the best national teams in the world is nothing to ignore. This is a team that has a lot of recent World Cup experience, as they reached the semi-final in 2022. The Scots are no scrubs, but this Moroccan team is a level above.
Then, we have Scotland. They faced a Haitian team ranked 84th in the world, compared to Morocco’s opponents Brazil, who sit at sixth. The Scots were actually fortunate to get the win. Haiti finished with more expected goals, more shots, the same amount of shots on goal and slightly more possession at 54%. If Haiti are able to play like that against Scotland, what can Morocco do?
Even though I like Morocco to win this one, I don’t think it’ll be a walk in the park. There haven’t been too many lopsided victories so far in this World Cup, and I expect this game to follow that trend. Despite that, give me Morocco to collect the three points somehow, some way.
Best Bet: Morocco Moneyline (-135)
