Samuel Eto’o: Cameroon Football Chief Denies Embezzlement Claims

The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has denied allegations of embezzlement against its president, Samuel Eto’o, describing the claims as slanderous and part of an organised smear campaign.

Eto’o was accused of diverting about €455,000 received from Cameroon’s friendly match against Russia in 2023 into a private account in Qatar, following a complaint by a former federation official.

In a statement, FECAFOOT rejected the accusations and defended its president. The federation said the reports were defamatory and politically motivated, aimed at discrediting its leadership.

FECAFOOT added that all financial decisions relating to friendly matches were taken collectively by its Emergency Committee, which includes four vice-presidents who co-signed the directives, and not by Eto’o alone.

Eto’o, who has led FECAFOOT since 2021, has faced growing scrutiny over governance issues in Cameroonian football. #Samuel Eto’o: Cameroon Football Chief Denies Embezzlement Claims# Lionel Messi Agrees Deal to Purchase Spanish Second-Tier Side Eldense
