The Italian company Saipem has secured a contract valued at 1 billion dollars to participate in the development of the offshore Greater PAJ project, located off the coast of Angola. The contract has been awarded by Azule Energy, a joint venture of Eni and Bp, and is expected to last for 40 months.
As stipulated in the contract, Saipem will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, transporting, and installing approximately 180 kilometers of subsea pipelines and various structures located at depths of up to 2,000 meters. The Greater PAJ project is considered one of the most significant deepwater energy projects in sub-Saharan Africa.
Additionally, the company will install 38 kilometers of flexible pipes and 54 kilometers of umbilical cables, used to connect and control the subsea facilities.
For offshore operations, Saipem will deploy the cable-laying vessel “Castorone” (IMO 9444194), flagged in the Bahamas, and the vessel “Saipem FDS” (IMO 9210749), also flagged in the Bahamas.
