Saipem has secured a new offshore contract from Azule Energy Exploration (Angola) Limited and Azule Energy Angola B.V., according to a company announcement. These entities are subsidiaries of an incorporated joint venture owned by Eni and bp. The contract is primarily for transportation and installation services supporting the Greater PAJ project, which is located roughly 200 kilometers off the coast of Angola. The agreement has a duration of approximately 40 months and is valued at 1 billion USD.

The Greater PAJ project, situated offshore Angola, is described as one of the most significant ultra-deepwater developments in sub-Saharan Africa. Saipem’s scope of work includes the engineering, fabrication, transportation, and installation of about 180 kilometers of rigid pipelines and subsea facilities at water depths reaching up to 2,000 meters. The contract also covers the transportation and installation of 38 kilometers of flexible flowlines and jumpers, as well as 54 kilometers of umbilicals.

Fabrication activities will be carried out at Saipem’s Ambriz yard in Angola, with the involvement of local companies and workforce. For the offshore installation campaign, Saipem plans to deploy its construction vessels FDS and Castorone. The company indicated that this contract award strengthens its collaboration with Azule Energy and confirms its positioning as a reference partner for developing complex offshore projects in Angola, leveraging its engineering expertise, advanced technological assets, and established industrial presence in the country.
