Saipem, the Italian engineering, drilling, and construction services company, has secured an offshore contract valued at approximately $350 million with Azule Energy, a joint venture between Italy’s Eni and the UK’s BP, according to offshore-energy.biz. The award covers subsea work on the West Hub Tails project, which forms part of the broader Agogo Integrated West Hub development situated 180 kilometers off the coast of Angola in water depths reaching up to 1,750 meters.

Scope of Work and Execution

Saipem’s responsibilities encompass engineering, fabrication, transportation, and installation of subsea infrastructures, including roughly 62 kilometers of flowlines, risers, and umbilicals that will be tied in to the Agogo floating production, storage, and offloading unit. The contract is expected to run for about two and a half years.

Fabrication activities are to take place at Saipem’s Ambriz yard in Angola, with local companies and workforce involved in the work. The company will deploy its FDS and Normand Maximus construction vessels for the offshore campaign.

Strategic Positioning and Project Context

Saipem characterized the award as further confirmation of its long-standing role as a key partner in executing complex offshore projects in West Africa, as well as its commitment to supporting growth of the energy industry in the countries where it operates.

The contract follows the confirmation by the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) and Azule Energy of the Ndungu full field start-up in February 2026, described as another significant milestone in the wider Agogo Integrated West Hub project.

The Agogo IWH project is operated by Azule Energy, which holds a 36.84% stake alongside partners Sonangol E&P with 36.84% and Sinopec International with 26.32%.

Broader Portfolio

The latest assignment adds to Saipem’s existing scope of work across multiple geographies, including a $1.8 billion deal in the Middle East for offshore and subsea facilities.
