WANA (Jun 28) – Russia is prepared to assist Iran in rebuilding infrastructure damaged during recent U.S. and Israeli attacks, Russian Ambassador to Tehran Alexey Dedov said.
Dedov said Russian industrial and construction firms, engineering and design institutes, and scientific and technology centers possess the expertise needed for reconstruction.
He added that, upon receiving an official request from Tehran, Moscow is ready to promptly assess reconstruction needs and present concrete cooperation proposals.
The ambassador also said bilateral trade between Russia and Iran continued to grow despite the conflict. From January to April 2026, trade increased by 2% despite disruptions to some logistics chains.
He added that economic cooperation continues to expand, highlighting the growing efficiency of the International North–South Transport Corridor.
According to Dedov, Russian exports to Iran rose by more than 56% in the first four months of 2026, while cargo transported via the corridor reached approximately 2.2 million metric tons, an 87% increase year-on-year.
Dedov also announced that Iranian and Russian nuclear officials will soon meet in Moscow to discuss the planned Hormoz nuclear power plant in southern Iran, including its legal and contractual framework.
Iran and Russia signed a $25 billion agreement in September 2025 to build the four-unit, 5,000-megawatt Hormoz nuclear power plant, which is planned near the cities of Minab and Sirik in Hormozgan Province.
