The Reggae Marathon has announced new appointments to its board ahead of this year’s event, set for December 6, in Kingston.
Organised by the Jamdammers Running Club, Reggae Marathon is a major long-distance running event and continues to attract participants from across the world each year.
The recent appointments include Aileen Corrigan, who has been named chair of the Reggae Marathon Board, alongside Dr Kemroy Johnson, who will serve as a director on the board.
Corrigan assumes the role at an exciting time for the event as organisers prepare for the next chapter in the marathon’s evolution following its transition to Kingston last year. A passionate member of the running community and long-time supporter of the event, Corrigan is expected to help guide the continued growth and development of Reggae Marathon locally and internationally.
The appointment of Johnson, a former president of the Jamdammers Running Club, follows a successful tenure leading the club, during which he played an active role in strengthening the organisation and supporting the continued success of Reggae Marathon. While the president of Jamdammers traditionally sits on the Reggae Marathon board, Johnson has been retained as a director in recognition of his leadership and contribution during his term as president.
Speaking on her appointment, Corrigan said Reggae Marathon is entering a new chapter built on a strong foundation established over many years in Negril, while embracing new opportunities in Kingston.
“Reggae Marathon has always been more than a race; it is a celebration of Jamaica’s culture, community spirit, and love for long-distance running. I am honoured to step into this role at such a pivotal moment in the event’s journey. Negril will always remain central to the history and identity of Reggae Marathon, and we are deeply grateful for the support and memories built there over the years. As we cement our presence in our nation’s cultural and historical capital, we are focused on expanding the experience for runners and stakeholders while preserving the authenticity and spirit that define the event,” she said.
Immediate past chair, Ian Kelly, welcomed the new appointments and said he looks forward to continuing to support the event as part of the board. “Reggae Marathon continues to be an important event for Jamaica’s sporting and tourism landscape. Aileen has a longstanding connection to the event and the running community, and I believe her leadership will be a valuable asset as we continue preparations for this year’s staging and the future development of the Reggae Marathon,” he said.
Devon House will also be the designated venue for on-site registration and packet collection from December 5 to 6, 2026. Participants may also register online at www.reggaemarathon.com from now until December 3.
