Qatar and Somalia discuss expanding economic partnership and attracting new investments

Mogadishu, Somalia – The Somali Prime Minister met with a Qatari delegation to discuss ways to expand economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.

This comes as part of Mogadishu’s efforts to attract more Arab investment and support development and reconstruction plans.

The meeting addressed opportunities for joint projects in several vital sectors, with a focus on areas with significant growth potential.

This would contribute to strengthening the Somali economy and opening new horizons for investors.

Both sides emphasized the importance of developing economic relations and translating cooperation opportunities into practical projects,

particularly in the infrastructure, energy, transportation, agriculture, and livestock sectors. These are areas of significant importance to the Somali economy.

The meeting also discussed ways to improve the investment climate and streamline procedures for capital inflows, which would help attract companies and investors.

This, in turn, would contribute to strengthening the role of the private sector in the development process.

The Somali government is working to expand its partnerships with Arab countries, leveraging the country’s strategic location, economic potential, and natural resources.
