The Egyptian giants parted ways with head coach Krunoslav Jurcic last month after deciding against renewing his contract.
Why Did Pyramids Part Ways With Jurcic?
Jurcic enjoyed a successful spell at the club and famously guided Pyramids to their maiden CAF Champions League title in 2025. However, reports suggest the club may have been left disappointed by their inability to retain the trophy this past season.
The Egyptian side suffered a quarter-final exit to Moroccan outfit AS FAR Rabat, with speculation emerging that the continental setback contributed to the decision to move in a different direction.
Mosimane Linked To Egyptian Giants
Pyramids are now searching for a new coach ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, with Mosimane among the names linked to the position.
However, Egyptian journalist Ahmed Shobair has claimed that many of the names being mentioned in the media are not necessarily part of the club’s internal discussions.
According to Tahia Masr, Shobair revealed during a radio interview that Pyramids’ hierarchy prefers to conduct negotiations discreetly in order to avoid external pressure while finalising their decision.
Pyramids Looking To Make Swift Appointment
The club is reportedly eager to appoint a new manager as quickly as possible to ensure stability and clarity before preparations for the new season begin.
Shobair further claimed that despite ongoing reports linking the former Al Ahly manager with the position, “the administration is not currently considering signing South African Pitso.”
The journalist added that Pyramids have already narrowed their search down to four leading candidates, with the race for the job still wide open.

According to Shobair, the club is continuing to evaluate its options before making a final decision on who will lead the team into the next phase of its project.
