Egypt – The private sector currently accounts for nearly 60% of total investments in Egypt as improving economic indicators drive international risk assessments to their lowest levels since 2014, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said on Monday.

Briefing Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on the ministry’s portfolio, Kouchouk noted that recent state-led economic reforms have positively impacted investor confidence and the broader investment climate. He highlighted strong recent activity across the industrial, telecommunications, information technology, and tourism sectors, cementing the private sector’s position as a principal partner in achieving economic development.

The government is continuing its efforts to provide further tax and customs incentives designed to support corporate expansion, stimulate production, and boost employment rates, the minister explained. He emphasised the necessity of integrating state efforts to enhance investment flows and strengthen the economy’s capacity to attract foreign capital.

Detailing upcoming tax facilitations, Kouchouk outlined plans to translate these measures into tangible services by expanding premium tax centres and accelerating digital integration to improve the user experience. As part of this digitisation strategy, the ministry has launched a new “Real Estate Dispositions” application. The platform allows citizens to complete property transaction procedures entirely online, from registering data and uploading documents to paying the owed tax and receiving final clearance, thereby reducing the need to visit physical tax offices.

The finance minister reaffirmed his commitment to modernising tax administration through the expanded use of technology and simplified procedures. He stressed the importance of continuously listening to the demands of taxpayers and partnering with the business community to improve service quality, encourage voluntary compliance, and increase the overall efficiency of the tax system.
