His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, affirmed that Yemeni-Saudi relations have entered a new phase of productive strategic partnership focused on rebuilding Yemen’s state institutions, supporting the country’s recovery and stability efforts, and strengthening its economic, service, and development capabilities over the long term.
In an interview with the Saudi newspaper Okaz, President al-Alimi said Yemenis would witness the benefits of this partnership across various sectors, thanks to the generous directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
He noted that Saudi Arabia’s new $150 million fuel grant represents a continuation of the Kingdom’s longstanding fraternal support and reflects its commitment to assisting the Yemeni government in easing the suffering of citizens, particularly in the electricity sector, which remains a critical priority during the summer season.
President al-Alimi explained that Saudi economic assistance has played a decisive role in preserving the cohesion of state institutions in recent years despite the severe repercussions of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and export ports.
He also praised the close follow-up by Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and his team responsible for the Yemeni file, highlighting the leading role of the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, which has implemented more than 280 projects and initiatives in the fields of electricity, energy, roads, water, education, healthcare, ports, airports, agriculture, and institutional capacity building.
The President further commended the humanitarian interventions led by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, as well as the Masam Project, describing their contributions as vital to protecting civilians and clearing land contaminated by mines and explosive remnants of war.
